Why Shimane’s Matcha Is Special

Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture

TAISYA is grown in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture. The region’s shorter daylight hours and lower UV exposure help produce tea leaves with vivid color and a gentle character that pairs especially well with milk.

Crafted by a Small Team of Artisans

IZUMO matcha artisan production

IZUMO-SEICHA produces matcha in small batches with careful attention to color, aroma, and drinkability. This makes TAISYA reliable for everyday lattes and home preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TAISYA suitable for matcha lattes?

Yes. TAISYA is especially recommended for matcha lattes. Its gentle bitterness becomes a pleasant accent in milk, giving your latte a clear matcha-forward finish.

Is TAISYA beginner-friendly?

Yes. TAISYA is an easy starting point in the IZUMO lineup, especially for customers who want to make matcha lattes at home.

Which size should I choose?

30g is ideal if you are trying TAISYA for the first time. 50g is convenient for regular home use. 100g offers better value if you make matcha lattes often.

How is it different from KAMI-WATASHI and KAGURA?

KAGURA is the premium option with deeper umami. KAMI-WATASHI is smoother and more balanced. TAISYA has a slightly clearer bitterness, which works very well in milk-based drinks.

Matcha color and flavor may vary slightly depending on the harvest season and production lot. This is a natural characteristic of authentic Japanese matcha.

Customers said this ceremonial matcha offers excellent quality at an affordable price. While described as working 'perfectly for lattes,' shoppers noted it 'wasn't quite suited for straight drinking' compared to alternatives. The product serves as a good value option for latte preparation.

So yummy. I use it everyday to make my matcha latte. Taste is strong but still creamy and light. It’s the perfect matcha and affordable. My matcha has been tasting like salted caramel.

Great Everyday matcha

I just finished up my 100g pack on Taisya matcha! It lasted me ~3 weeks as I make matcha lattes frequently. I prefer this version of Izumo and it is very similar Kami-Watashi and Kagura at a better price point. This is a great affordable and beginner matcha that is good in lattes. I would recommend buying a few packs as shipping is pricey especially to the eastern US.This matcha is smooth but still has a distinct matcha flavor. The color is beautiful. The photo attached uses 2% milk and I find it preferable to oatmilk for this brand of matcha.

It had a really good and strong flavor. It wasn't that creamy tho.

Came quickly and tastes great! I’ve tried the MAKI-NO-SHIRO and now TAISYA and they’re great for both teas and lattes.

Matcha green tea Izumo TAISYA 100g pack

Tasted great and it lasted me so long! (around 5 months)I recommend this for matcha lattes and for beginners. It has a subtle umami flavor, but sweet when adding milk and agave. Here's a banana oat milk latte I made!

Surprisingly Great Alternatives to HOSHINOEN

I used to regularly drink matcha from HOSHINOEN, but since it became difficult to find, I decided to try these alternatives. Both KAGURA and KAMI-WATASHI were of excellent quality—good enough to enjoy straight. The price is also more affordable compared to other brands, which I really appreciate.TAISYA wasn't quite suited for straight drinking, but it worked perfectly for lattes.Even if HOSHINOEN becomes available again, I might just keep buying this instead!

Good for lattes

I have tried all 3 Izumo matcha grades starting with this. It is a very basic and mellow matcha. It's good for lattes but would not recommend it as an usucha. There is some bitterness and astrigency and the color is not very vibrant. It's great for its price compared to other brands, but would recommend to spend a bit more and go for the Kagura. The upgrade in quality is far superior for the price difference.

One of the best affordable ceremonial grade Matcha

This matcha powder is fantastic for making lattes! It has a beautiful, fresh green color and a clean, smooth flavor. What I love most is that it’s not very bitter at all — just a mild, natural sweetness that blends perfectly with milk. It whisks easily and creates a creamy, delicious latte every time. Great quality for the price, and perfect if you prefer a mellow matcha without the harsh bitterness. Highly recommend!
