Yame Saemidori Matcha 100g
Rich umami, gentle sweetness, and a smooth, clean finish. Discover first-harvest Saemidori from Yame, enjoyed whisked with water or with your favorite milk.
Why We Recommend Saemidori
We selected this matcha for its rich umami, gentle sweetness, and low bitterness in our tasting evaluation. It is a versatile choice for people who enjoy both whisked matcha and lattes, with the character of a single tea cultivar: Saemidori.
Flavor Profile
Our tasting impression is full umami followed by gentle sweetness and a clean finish. Bitterness is low, though the balance will change with your water temperature, concentration, and choice of milk.
These scores describe perceived flavor intensity in MatchaJP's tasting, not quality rankings or customer ratings. Taste varies with preparation and personal preference. Natural sweetness does not mean added sugar.
100g for Your Everyday Matcha Ritual
For regular matcha drinkers, a 100g pouch offers around 50 bowls of usucha or 25–33 lattes, depending on how much powder you use. Supplied in a pouch, not a tin.

Two Ways to Enjoy Saemidori
Whisk it with water to explore its umami and finish, or add milk for a smooth latte. The quantities below are starting points: adjust them to your taste and the milk you use.
Usucha · Whisked with Water
2g matcha + 60ml (2 fl oz) water
75–80°C (167–176°F)
- Sift the matcha into a bowl.
- Add the warm water and whisk briskly until smooth and lightly foamy.
- Sip as it cools. Add a little more water if you prefer a lighter bowl.
Latte · Hot or Iced
3g matcha + 30ml (1 fl oz) warm water
150ml (5 fl oz) milk
- Sift the matcha and whisk with water at 75–80°C (167–176°F).
- Add warm milk, or pour over cold milk and ice.
- For a stronger matcha flavor, use less milk or increase the powder to 4g.
Why Saemidori?
A cultivar is a variety of tea plant. This matcha is made entirely from Saemidori, allowing you to explore one cultivar's character. Single-cultivar matcha and carefully crafted blends offer different ways to enjoy tea; each can be an excellent choice.
Crafted in Yame, Fukuoka
This matcha comes from Yame in Fukuoka, Japan. It is made from first-harvest leaves and stone-milled into a fine powder. Origin, cultivar, harvest, and processing are all part of the story behind the cup.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does single-cultivar, first-harvest mean?
Single-cultivar means that all the tea comes from the Saemidori variety. First-harvest means the leaves come from the year's first picking season. These describe the tea's identity; our flavor notes reflect MatchaJP's tasting of this particular matcha.
Is it pure matcha, or a sweetened latte mix?
It is 100% Japanese matcha, with no added sugar, flavoring, or other ingredients. Any sweetness described in the tasting notes is a natural flavor impression of the tea.
Is this matcha suitable for lattes?
Yes. Its mellow flavor and low bitterness work well in hot and iced lattes. Start with the latte recipe above and adjust the milk quantity for your preferred strength.
Is it suitable for usucha?
Yes. Usucha is one of the best ways to appreciate its rich umami, gentle sweetness, low bitterness, and clean finish.
Who is the 100g size best for?
It suits people who drink matcha regularly. At 2g per bowl, 100g provides about 50 servings. This product comes in a pouch rather than a tin. The serving count is a quantity guide, not a guarantee of freshness for that many days after opening.
How should I store matcha?
Follow the storage instructions on the package. Keep the pouch tightly sealed, away from heat, light, moisture, and strong odors, and use a clean, dry spoon. If refrigerated, allow the sealed pouch to reach room temperature before opening to help prevent condensation. Check the package for its best-before date and enjoy promptly after opening for the best flavor.
Why does matcha sometimes become clumpy?
Stone-milled matcha is extremely fine, so static electricity and humidity can create natural clumps. Sifting before whisking improves both texture and foam.
