Tea Cultivation in Hoshino Village
- Mountain climate: Hoshino Village is located in a mountainous area with a cool climate suitable for high-quality tea cultivation.
- Clean water: The region is known for clear water sources, which help support the flavor and quality of the tea leaves.
- Skilled farmers: Local tea farmers combine long experience with careful cultivation and processing methods.
- Quality management: From harvesting to processing and storage, the tea is handled with careful quality control.
How to Brew Sencha
Use about 3–5g of tea leaves per serving. Adjust the amount of leaves, water temperature, and steeping time depending on your preferred strength.
Add approximately 3–5g of sencha leaves to a teapot.
Use hot water cooled to about 80°C / 176°F and steep for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Pour into a cup and enjoy. For iced sencha, pour the brewed tea over ice.
Sencha vs. Gyokuro: What’s the Difference?
The biggest difference between sencha and gyokuro is how the tea leaves are grown. Gyokuro is shaded before harvest, which creates a deeper umami and smoother sweetness. Sencha is grown with more sunlight, giving it a brighter aroma and a refreshing balance.
You want a refreshing Japanese green tea that is easy to enjoy every day. Sencha is clean, aromatic, and versatile.
You want deeper umami, a smoother mouthfeel, and a more luxurious tea experience. Gyokuro is best enjoyed slowly.
