Three centuries of Japanese craft in a single bowl. The Tenmoku Hare's Fur chrysanthemum chawan combines one of pottery's most revered iron glazes with fine, hair-like streaks that form naturally as the glaze flows in the kiln — all shaped into the graceful petal silhouette of the chrysanthemum, Japan's most cherished flower.
Authentic Mino Ware, Made in Japan
Tenmoku (天目) is one of the oldest and most storied glaze traditions in East Asian ceramics — prized by Chinese emperors and Japanese tea masters alike. The hare's fur effect (禾目 / うのふ) occurs when iron-rich glaze runs in fine, luminous streaks during firing, creating a pattern that cannot be designed — only coaxed from the kiln. Each bowl made in the kilns of Mino carries on a tradition spanning over 1,300 years.
Why You'll Love It
A deep, lustrous glaze ranging from rich brown to near-black — one of the most historically significant glazes in Japanese ceramics.
Delicate, hair-like lines formed spontaneously during firing — impossible to replicate exactly, making every bowl a singular work of art.
The petal-scalloped rim transforms a functional bowl into something worth displaying — on a shelf, a tea table, or anywhere it can be admired.
At ⌀11.3 cm, it sits comfortably in both hands — ideal for a quiet, focused bowl of matcha.

Care
We recommend hand washing with mild soap and warm water, then drying thoroughly. To preserve the Tenmoku glaze and hare's fur finish, please avoid the microwave, dishwasher, and sudden changes in temperature.
Please note: each bowl is individually handmade, so slight variations in color, glaze streaks, petal shape, and overall form are completely natural — the mark of a genuine artisan piece, not a defect.
Trusted by matcha lovers around the world.
