About the Artist
Chizuru Imai is a Japanese lacquer artist based in Wajima, one of Japan’s most famous lacquerware regions. Since 2008, she has studied traditional lacquer art techniques from the base coating process to decorative finishing.
While respecting traditional Japanese craftsmanship, she also creates modern and original lacquer art pieces.
Each piece is individually handcrafted and painted by the artist.

Natsume is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremony for holding matcha powder, especially for usucha preparation. Its decorative appearance also makes it suitable as a small item holder or display piece.
